10.10. Generator


DELCO-REMY generator of a small-sized series

On cars DELCO-REMY or BOSCH generators can be established.

The drive of the generator is carried out by a maple belt from a pulley of a cranked shaft. Cooling of the generator is carried out by the fan established outside of the fan. In generators there is a built-in regulator of tension.

The generator carries out a battery charging on all power setting. The generator consists of two main parts: stator and rotor. The shaft of a rotor rotates in two ball bearings greasing in which is put on all service life of operation of the generator. Contact rings serve for current transfer to a winding of excitement of a rotor.

The generator develops an alternating current which diodes becomes straight in constant and is used for additional charge of the accumulator and a food of electric chains of the car.

On later models устанавлива ются DELCO-REMY generators of a small-sized series (see drawing). These generators are established rigidly on the engine, and adjustment of a tension of a driving belt is carried out by the automatic mechanism of a tension.
