12.10. Removal and transmission installation

GENERAL INFORMATION

Prevention

Removal and transmission installation – rather difficult operation therefore before its performance read the present section. At removal of a transmission it is necessary to use the special equipment for engine support. At installation of a transmission it is necessary to use the special tool for installation of an entrance shaft of a transmission in coupling.

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove a weight wire from the accumulator.
2. In a motor compartment weaken tightening a bolt, a fixing rod of the mechanism of a choice of transfers to draft. Separate a rod of the mechanism of a choice of transfers from draft for what move a rod to a partition of a motor compartment.
3. Remove a fastening bracket, then separate a carving tip of a cable of coupling from the squeezing lever for what previously move the lever to a partition of a motor compartment. Remove a cover of a cable of coupling from an arm on a case of a transmission and move a coupling cable aside.
4. Disconnect the electric socket from the switch of lamps of a backing which is located from the forward party of a transmission over the left fixing arm.
5. Unscrew the connecting plug and take a cable of a drive of a speedometer from a transmission.
6. Unscrew three top bolts, fixing a transmission to the engine.
7. Support the engine about its left support. For support of the engine it is necessary to use the special Opel No. KM-263 tool. Alternatively the engine can be supported with использова niy the load-lifting mechanism.
8. At existence remove from wheels caps, then weaken bolts of fastening of forward wheels. Tighten the hand brake, then lift a forward part of the car and fix on supports. Keep in mind that the car should be lifted rather highly in order that from under it it was possible to take a transmission. Remove forward wheels.
9. Check that the engine is reliably supported, then remove a forward bottom frame.
10. Take internal hinges of power shafts from differential and, using a soft wire, suspend power shafts to a car body. Close openings for shaft in a transmission suitable jams.
11. Unscrew a nut and remove the grounding tire from a cover in a transmission end face.
12. Establish the corresponding container under a cover in a transmission end face, then unscrew bolts and uncover. Note an arrangement of a bolt which fixes also the grounding tire. For improvement of access to a cover remove the loose leaf of an arch of a wheel.
13. Remove cover laying.
14. Using special flat-nose pliers, remove lock rings from the internal ends of power shafts.
15. Unscrew a bolt from an end face of an entrance shaft of a transmission.
16. Take an entrance shaft of a transmission from a nave of a disk of coupling. If coupling repair is not required, it can be not unscrewed from a flywheel.
17. A jack through wooden whetstone support a transmission.
18. Remove the left support of a transmission for what unscrew two bolts, fixing a rubber pillow to a body of the car and three bolts, support fixing an arm to a transmission (see fig. Arrangement of bolts of fastening of the left support of a transmission).
19. Unscrew bolts and remove a protective plate from the basis of a case of coupling.
20. Check reliability of support of a transmission, then unscrew the remained bolts of fastening of a transmission to the engine.
21. Lower a transmission and take it from under the car.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Using tap М10х1,25, clear in a body a carving for bolts of fastening of a rubber pillow of the left support of a transmission.
2. On models with a flat flywheel installation of coupling is most convenient for making after transmission installation.
3. Place a transmission under a forward part of the car on a jack with wooden whetstone.
4. Lift a transmission and screw in the bottom bolts of fastening of a transmission to the engine, but do not tighten them finally at this stage.
5. Establish the left support of a transmission, thus for fastening of a rubber pillow to a body use new bolts. Tighten the demanded moment all bolts of fastening of the left support of a transmission.
6. Tighten the demanded moment earlier screwed in bolts of fastening of a transmission to the engine and take a jack from under a transmission.
7. If acted in film, establish coupling. Move an entrance shaft of a transmission to a nave of a disk of coupling.
8. Screw in a bolt in an end face of an entrance shaft of a transmission and establish a new lock ring.
9. Using new laying, establish a cover in an end face of a transmission and fix bolts, having tightened them the demanded moment. Check that the bolt, fixing the grounding tire, is established on the place.
10. Establish the tire of grounding of a transmission on a bolt and fix a nut.
11. Establish and fix bolts a protective plate on the basis of a coupling case.
12. Insert the internal ends of power shafts into differential, thus use new lock rings.
13. Establish the bottom forward frame.
14. Establish forward wheels.
15. Remove the special adaptation for engine support.
16. Lower the car on the earth, then tighten bolts of fastening of a wheel the demanded moment and, at existence, establish caps on wheels.
17. Screw in three top bolts of fastening of a transmission to the engine and tighten them the demanded moment.
18. Connect a cable of a drive of a speedometer to a transmission and fix it the adjusting plug.
19. Connect the electric socket to the switch of lamps of a backing.
20. Fix a cover of a cable of coupling in an arm on a transmission case, then connect a carving tip of a cable of coupling with the squeezing lever and adjust length of a cable of coupling. Check correctness of an arrangement of a cable of coupling.
21. Connect a rod of the mechanism of a choice of transfers to draft, then adjust drafts and tighten tightening a bolt.
22. Check oil level in a transmission and, if necessary, finish it to norm.
23. Connect a weight wire to the accumulator.
