16.15. Back shock-absorber

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. On models with SOHC engines removal of shock-absorbers is necessary for making in turn. Replacement of shock-absorbers make in pairs on one axis of the car.
2. On models with system of adjustment of rigidity of a back suspension bracket remove pressure in system for what let the air out via the valve in a luggage compartment.
3. Working in a luggage compartment, uncover, closing the top fastening of the shock-absorber. On the Hatchback models for access to the right shock-absorber uncover, closing office for storage of the first-aid kit and a sign of an emergency stop.
4. Unscrew a nut of the top fastening of the shock-absorber, thus hold a shock-absorber rod from a provorachivaniye the second wrench (see fig. Unscrewing of the top fastening of the back shock-absorber). Remove a washer and a rubber element of the top fastening of the shock-absorber.
5. Establish the car over a viewing hole. Alternatively lift a back part of the car and fix on supports. Thus a jack support the corresponding lever of a back suspension bracket.
6. At existence, working under a back part of the car, disconnect from the shock-absorber an air pipe of system of a being self-leveled back suspension bracket.
7. Unscrew a bolt, fixing the lower part of the shock-absorber to the longitudinal lever of a back suspension bracket (on models with SOHC engines), or to the diagonal lever (on models with DOHC engines) (see fig. Unscrewing of a bolt of the bottom fastening of the shock-absorber).
8. On models with the SOHC engine manually compress the shock-absorber and take it from the longitudinal lever of a back suspension bracket.
9. Take the shock-absorber from under the car and remove a rubber element of the bottom fastening of the shock-absorber and a cup from the top part of the shock-absorber.
10. Check the shock-absorber on signs of leakages of amortization liquid. Check on all length of a rod of the shock-absorber on absence of dot corrosion. Check the shock-absorber case on absence of mechanical damages. Establish the shock-absorber in vertical situation and check its work, moving a shock-absorber rod at full capacity. Also check operation of the shock-absorber, moving a shock-absorber rod up and down on distance of 50-100 mm. In all cases the rod of the shock-absorber should move smoothly with notable resistance. If the rod of the shock-absorber moves with breakthroughs or there are mechanical damages, the shock-absorber is subject to replacement.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Check a condition of rubber elements of fastening of the back shock-absorber and, if necessary, replace them.
2. Installation is made in sequence, return to removal taking into account the next moments.
3. Turn the shock-absorber so that it was possible to connect an air line of system of adjustment of rigidity of a back suspension bracket to it.
4. Tighten a bolt of fastening of the lower part of the shock-absorber the demanded moment.
5. On models with system a being self-leveled back suspension bracket, increase in system pressure to 0,8 bar and check system on existence of leakages of air.
