Steering column without tilt angle adjustment

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove a steering column from the car.
2. Using a screw-driver edge as the lever, release clamps of a casing of the lock of ignition, then turn a casing counter-clockwise and remove it from a steering column (see fig. Elements of a steering column without tilt angle adjustment).
3. For removal of the bearing from a casing of the lock of ignition release two clamps of the bearing and, using the tubular opravka established on an external ring of the bearing, beat out the bearing. At installation of the new bearing check that the persistent washer and a fixing spring are correctly established (see fig. Casing of the lock of ignition).
4. Unscrew screws with a secret head and remove a casing of the lock of ignition. Do not remove at the same time the switch and the cylinder of the lock of ignition to keep their relative positioning.
5. If the steering column is established in the car, unscrew top tightening a bolt of fastening of the elastic coupling to a steering shaft.
6. Take a steering shaft from a steering column.
7. Temporarily establish a plastic centering washer in the lower part of a pipe of a steering column.
8. Establish a steering shaft in a pipe of a steering column. If the steering column is established in the car, connect a steering shaft to the elastic coupling and screw in top tightening a bolt of fastening of the elastic coupling, but do not tighten it finally.
9. Put the lock of ignition and fix it screws with a secret head.
10. Establish a casing of the lock of ignition with new clamps.
11. If the steering column is established in the car, move a steering shaft up against the stop and tighten tightening a bolt of fastening of the elastic coupling. Check that forward wheels of the car установле ны in situation for movement directly forward, and the top bolt of fastening of the elastic coupling is located in horizontal situation.
12. Further assembly is made in sequence, return dismantling. Establish a steering wheel.

Steering column with tilt angle adjustment


Prevention

At assembly it is necessary to use new cut-off bolts for fastening of a casing of the lock of ignition.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. If necessary remove a steering column.
2. Being careful and using a screw-driver edge as the lever, remove a spring of a regulator of a tilt angle of a steering column.
3. Unscrew two screws with the secret head, ignitions fixing the lock to a casing.
4. The casing of the lock of ignition fastens to the bearing case two bolts with cut-off heads which it is necessary накернить, to drill and unscrew, using a special stripper for a vyvinchivaniye of bolts with cut-off heads (see fig. 5. For replacement of a ring of the top bearing of a steering column remove a lock ring, press rings and a spring. For removal of a lock ring it is necessary to compress a spring. Be careful at removal of a lock ring as the spring is in the compressed condition.
6. Before removal of the case of the bearing from a steering column, using a nut and a bolt, take pins. For extraction of pins it is desirable to use the special Opel KM-585 tool (see fig. Use of the special KM-585 tool for extraction of pins of fastening of the case of the bearing on a steering column with tilt angle adjustment).
7. Using a hammer and a drift, remove a ring of the bottom bearing of a steering column. Establish a new ring of the bottom bearing on a steering shaft.
8. It is possible to replace other rings of bearings of a steering column only together with a casing.
9. If necessary remove the universal hinge of a steering shaft and clamps of the mechanism of adjustment of a tilt angle.
10. Assembly is made in sequence, return dismantling taking into account the next moments (see fig. Elements of a steering column with tilt angle adjustment).
11. At installation of the universal hinge of a steering shaft keep in mind that spring brackets should settle down in hinge deepenings (see fig. The universal hinge of a steering shaft of a steering column with tilt angle adjustment. Arrangement of a spring washer).
12. In case division of a casing of the lock and the bearing case was made, using the corresponding tap, clean openings under a fastening bolt. On a carving of bolts with a cut-off head apply a thin film means, to a prepyatstvo yushchy to unscrewing of bolts, and screw in and tighten bolts so that heads of bolts were cut off.
13. Establish the pins, fixing the case of the bearing and зачеканьте each pin a center punch in three places evenly on a circle.
14. At replacement of bearings check that gaps between the case bearings and an emphasis identical from two parties of the bearing.
