2.19. Removal and installation of a head of the block of cylinders on the engine in the car

2.19.1. Removal

GENERAL INFORMATION

Prevention

Removal of a head of the block of cylinders make on the cold engine. At installation it is necessary to use new bolts of fastening and new laying of a head of the block of cylinders. At installation of the case of a camshaft it is necessary to use hermetic. The specified moments of a tightening can be applied only to later bolts. When using bolts of early types specify the tightening moments at the dealer of Opel.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove a weight wire from the accumulator.
2. Merge cooling liquid from cooling system.
3. Disconnect a reception exhaust pipe from a final collector.
4. The head of the block of cylinders can be removed from the engine together with collectors, or collectors can be disconnected from a head of the block of cylinders before its removal. In case on an inlet collector it will not be made any works, it can be unscrewed from a head of the block of cylinders and to fix, thus it is not required to disconnect the corresponding hoses, pipes and electric sockets.
5. If the head of the block of cylinders acts in film together with collectors, disconnect from an inlet collector all hoses, pipes and electric sockets. On models with the carburetor disconnect a branch pipe from a zabornik of warmed-up air about an inlet collector. Weaken bolts of fastening of the generator, then unscrew the top fastening of the generator from an inlet collector.
6. Disconnect a branch pipe of the air filter from the heater block on the carburetor or the case of a throttle or from the case of a throttle. Then disconnect from a cover of a head of the block of cylinders a hose of ventilation of the case, going to the carburetor or the throttle case (see fig. A detachment of a hose of ventilation of a case from a cover of a head of the block of cylinders on the engine of 2,0 l).
7. On the C16 NZ2 1,8 and 2,0 models of l disconnect thinner hose of cooling liquid from the top part of a casing of the thermostat.
8. On models of 1,6 l except the NZ2 C16 models disconnect from a cover of a head of the block of cylinders a hose of ventilation of the case, going to an inlet collector.
9. On models with system of injection of fuel unscrew two tires of grounding from the camshaft case (see fig. Unscrewing of the tire of grounding from the camshaft case on models with system of injection of fuel on the engine of 2,0 l).
10. On l models 1,4 and 1,6 except the NZ2 C16 models disconnect a hose connecting a pipe of ventilation of a case to a back part of the case of a camshaft (see fig. A detachment of a hose of ventilation of a case on the engine of 1,6 l).
11. Check that all hoses, pipes and electric sockets are disconnected from an inlet collector, then remove an inlet collector from a head of the block of cylinders.
12. Remove laying of an inlet collector from a head of the block of cylinders.
13. If necessary remove a final collector from a head of the block of cylinders.
14. Remove a gear belt and a camshaft pulley.
15. Unscrew two bolts, fixing a back casing of a gear belt to the camshaft case.
16. Mark and remove high-voltage wires from candles and the ignition coil. Uncover the distributor of ignition and, at existence, disconnect from the distributor the electric socket.
17. Remove a hose of ventilation of a case from a branch pipe on the camshaft case (see fig. A detachment of a hose of ventilation of a case on the engine of 2,0 l).
18. Unscrew a bolt, a fixing arm of fastening of a pipe of ventilation of a case to an end face of a head of the block of cylinders (see fig. Unscrewing of an arm of support of a pipe of ventilation of a case from a head of the block of cylinders on the engine of 2,0 l).
19. Disconnect hoses of supply of cooling liquid from a thermostat casing.
20. On models with carburetors disconnect fuel hoses from the fuel pump and close them jams.
21. Check that all hoses, pipes and wires are disconnected from a head of the block of cylinders.
22. Unscrew bolts of fastening of a head of the block of cylinders, working on a spiral outside inside, unscrewing bolts on a turn half for each pass before complete unscrewing of bolts (see fig. Sequence of unscrewing of bolts of fastening of a head of the block of cylinders on the SOHC engine).
23. Remove from a head of the block of cylinders the camshaft case (see fig. Removal of the case of a camshaft from a head of the block of cylinders on the engine of 1,6 l).
24. Remove yokes, blocks of axial pressure and hydraulic pushers and place them in the corresponding container filled with oil so that at installation they became everyone on the place (see fig. 25. Remove a head of the block of cylinders (see fig. Removal of a head of the block of cylinders on the engine of 1,6 l).
26. Remove laying of a head of the block of cylinders.
