7.20. Check and adjustment of a fuel mix on idling turns

GENERAL INFORMATION

Prevention

On models with the catalyst it is impossible to adjust quality of a fuel mix, and on models with system of injection of fuel adjustment of turns of idling is not provided. For adjustment of a fuel mix on idling turns on models with system of injection of Motronic for adjustment it is necessary to use a tachometer and the analyzer of exhaust gases.


SYSTEM OF INJECTION OF MULTEC FUEL

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. If the contents WITH in exhaust gases does not correspond to norm first of all check a condition of a filtering element of the air filter. Check a condition and an interelectrode gap of spark plugs. Check a condition and blocking of vacuum hoses and hoses of ventilation of a case of the engine. Check, that was not подсоса air in an entrance air route. Check, that the case of a throttle and an inlet collector were not damaged. Check adjustment of a cable of an accelerator. If the engine works at single turns unstably, check a compression in engine cylinders. Check serviceability and reliability of connection of electroconducting and electric sockets. Replacement of the fuel filter make each 30 000 km of run or once in 24 months. Check that there are no leaks from an exhaust system which can affect operation of the catalyst.

Adjustment

The fuel mix on idling turns completely copes the electronic control device (ECU) and there is no possibility of manual adjustment. Thus exact check can be made only with use of the special equipment at station техничес whom Opel service.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. The unique check which can be made, it is verification of the contents WITH in exhaust gases. This check shows overall performance of the catalyst. Measurement is made at turns of the engine of 3 000 rpm without loading. If the contents WITH exceeds admissible limits, it is necessary to use the special equipment of Opel for complete check of system of injection of fuel and ignition system. If the sound of the working engine changes at system shutdown, means the catalyst is faulty and it is necessary to replace it.

SYSTEM OF INJECTION OF MONTRONIC FUEL

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. For check and adjustment of a fuel mix of idling satisfy the following conditions:

– warm up the engine to normal working temperature;
– disconnect everything electric consumers (the radiator fan also should not work);
– check and, if necessary, adjust interelectrode gaps of spark plugs; – adjust an accelerator cable;
– in system of supply of air should not be подсоса air, and the air filter should be pure.

Adjustment

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Connect a tachometer and the analyzer of exhaust gases according to the instruction.
2. Start the engine, then by 30 seconds increase engine turns to 2000 rpm, then transfer the engine to an idling mode. Check idling turns. If turns of idling do not correspond demanded, address on Opel service station.
3. If idling turns соответ ствуют demanded, check the contents WITH in exhaust gases. For contents adjustment WITH in exhaust gases rotate the screw of adjustment of quality of the mix, located in a measuring instrument of a stream of air. The screw is closed by a cap.
4. If in the course of adjustment the radiator fan turned on, stop adjustment and continue it only after switching off of the fan of a radiator.
5. After carrying out adjustment disconnect a tachometer and remove the analyzer of exhaust gases.

SYSTEM OF INJECTION OF SIMTEC FUEL

On models with system of injection of Simtec fuel adjustment of turns of idling and the contents WITH in exhaust gases is not provided.
